Abstrak

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap ilmiah siswa. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI MIA-7 di SMA N 2 Yogyakarta yang berjumlah 30 orang siswa. Penelitian dilakukan dengan dua siklus. Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa diperoleh dari data nilai LKS dan tes evaluasi di akhir siklus. Sedangkan sikap ilmiah diperoleh dari data observasi yang dilakukan oleh guru saat pembelajaran berlangsung. Pada siklus I semua indikator berpikir kritis telah mencapai target dengan rata-rata presentase indikator berpikir siswa sebesar 81,83% sedangkan pada siklus II persentase indikator berpikir siswa meningkat menjadi 88,76%. Selain itu, sikap ilmiah siswa juga meningkat yang ditunjukkan presentase sikap ilmiah pada siklus I siswa sebesar 64,46% sedangkan pada siklus II presentase sikap ilmiah siswa meningkat menjadi 92,33% dan semua indikator telah mencapai target. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode discovery learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap ilmiah siswa.

Implementation Of Discovery Learning Model To Improve Students’ Critical Thinking Skill and Scientific Attitude at Chemistry Matter class XI SMA N 2 Yogyakarta

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve the students’ critical thinking skill and students’ scientific attitude. The sample of this research is the students of class XI MIA-7 in SMA N 2 Yogyakarta which amounts to 30 students. The study was conducted with two cycles. Student’s critical thinking ability was obtained from LKS and evaluation test at the end of cycle. While the scientific attitude obtained from the observation data conducted by the teacher during the learning process. In cycle I all critical thinking indicators has reached target with mean percentage of indicator of student’s thinking equal to 81,83% while in cycle II the percentage of indicator of student’s thinking increased to 88,76%. In addition, the students ‘scientific attitude also increased which is indicated by the percentage of scientific attitude in the first cycle of students as much as 64.46% while in cycle II the percentage of students’ scientific attitude increased to 92.33% and all indicators have reached the target. From the results of research can be concluded that the discovery learning method can improve the ability of critical thinking and students’ scientific attitude.
