Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI MIA 4 SMA N 1 Sleman pada pembelajaran kimia materi pokok laju reaksi dengan penerapan Model Problem Based Learning (PBL). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari rencana tindakan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 4 semester ganjil SMA Negeri 1 Sleman tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan ujian dan observasi, sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Rata-rata persentase aspek kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada Siklus I sebesar 70,65% (sedang) meningkat menjadi 83,23% (tinggi) pada Siklus II. Rata-rata persentase siswa tuntas pada Siklus I sebesar 68.39% meningkat menjadi 87.74% pada Siklus II.

THE EFFECT OF APPLICATION OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING MODEL ON CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY
CLASS XI MIA 4 SMA N 1 SLEMAN
Abstract
The aims of this research was to improve of critical thinking ability students of class XI MIA 4 SMA N 1 Sleman in chemistry topic of reaction rate who learned by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This was an Classroom Action Research with two cycle, each cycles consist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject of this research was student of class XI MIA 4 SMA N 1 Sleman on semester 1 of the academic year 2017/2018. The research data were taken by test and observation techniques, while data analysis technique used qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this research indicated that learned by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model increase of critical thinking ability students. Average percentage aspects of students’ critical thinking skills increase from 70,65% (medium) to 83,23% (high). Average percentage of students who can reach the target increase from 68.39% to 87.74%.
