ABSTRAK
Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Kasihan dengan penerapan model Problem Based Learning.
Pelaksanaan penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus dengan tahap setiap siklusnya adalah perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Kasihan dengan jumlah 31 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan datanya adalah dengan teknik observasi dan teknik ujian. Data hasil penelitian diolah secara deskriptif kualitatif.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada kemampuan menggali informasi, kemampuan mengajukan pertanyaan yang banyak dan tepat, kemampuan menyajikan data secara mendetail, kemampuan menunjukkan perbedaan antar dua hal dan kemampuan menyatakan pendapat dengan meyertakan alasan atau pendapat. Persentase kenaikan pada masing-masing indikator secara berurutan dari siklus I ke siklus II adalah 4,03%, 22,58%, 25,81%, 20,97% dan 24,38%.

THE APPLICATION OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE THE CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY STUNDENTS IN THE SUBJECT MATTER OF THERMOCHEMISTRY CLASS XI MIPA 2 SEMESTER 1 AT SMA NEGERI 1 KASIHAN
ABSTRACT
The aim of this action classroom reseach were to find out the improvement at critical thinking ability of the students class XI SMA Negeri 1 Kasihan by the application of Problem Based Learning model.
This research was carried out in two cycles, each cycles consist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject in this research was class XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Kasihan that consisted of 31 students. The technique in collecting data consisted of observation and test. The data as result of research was organized by qualitative descriptive.
The result of this research indicated that the application of Problem Based Learning model can increase the critical thinking ability of the students in the ability to dig informations, theability to ask a lot and correct questions, the ability to presents detailed data, the ability to shows the difference between two things and the ability to express opinions with reasons. The percentage increase on each indicator in sequence from cycle 1 to cycle 2 were 4,03%, 22,58%, 25,81%, 20,97% dan 24,38%.
